GM set to promote new hybrids

General Motors is reportedly planning a marketing push to promote its hybrid vehicles and other fuel-saving technologies.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the effort is part of a strategy to lift the automaker’s image as a leader in automotive technology. GM is said to be hoping to use some of the money it will save from closing plants and cutting jobs this year to accelerate development of hybrids, hydrogen fuel cells and other technologies.

Nissan To Debut Sentra SE-R at L.A. Auto Show

Nissan has announced that it will unveil the 2007 Sentra SE-R and 2007 Sentra SE-R Spec V on November 29 at the 2006 L.A. auto show.

Volvo and Audi’s New Gadgets

Once you’re on the road you are exposed to numerous types of possible road accidents. The mere changing of lanes if you are not careful enough may result to an accident especially if you fail to take notice of the vehicle in your “blind spot”.

To address such problem, the 2007 Audi and Volvo both developed a system that can detect vehicles that a driver may not see on either side of his car. The system will use LED displays which are to be placed near each outside rearview mirror to warn driver of approaching vehicles particular on its blind spot.

The 2007 Buick Rendezvous has successfully combined comfort, capability, and capacity. It makes use of the QuiteTuning process and components that are designed to reduce, block, and absorb sound creating a serene riding experience. The advancements like quiet tread tires, enhanced absorbers, improved sealing techniques, and acoustic laminate front side door glass help create to block road noises.

It also features excellent traction control. The powertrain control module (PCM) computer which is a standard for CXL is provided to detect excessive front wheel spin. This same computer system is responsible for adjusting the spinning tire in order to regain traction. How? By applying first brakes to the wheel and then reducing the power by slowing down the spark to all engine cylinders.

Volvo XC90: Billionaire’s Choice

Volvo’s lines of XC90 cars have charmed not only average earners but also one of the wealthiest men on earth, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud.

There are two types of XC90 sold the 2006 Volvo XC90 and 2007 XC90. The 2006 XC90 is a four-door sport utility that can accommodate at least seven passengers. It is available in two trims the 2.5 T and the V8. The 2.5 T is equipped with a 2.5 liter, I5, 208 horsepower turbo engine that can reach 17mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. It also comes with a standard five-speed automatic transmission.

The V8 on the other hand is equipped with a standard 4.4 liter, V8, 311 horsepower engine that can reach 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on highway. It comes with a 6-speed standard automatic transmission with overdrive. The 2006 Volvo XC90 is a more of a carryover from 2005.
